an open letter to NASA about its open call for recruiting astronauts

Dear NASA,

though i don't have "three years of relevant professional experience or 1,000 hours of pilot-in-command time in a jet aircraft," i still believe i'll be a good candidate for your new astronaut program. i LOVE space exploration and would go to any lengths to achieve that as a career.

as for the rest of your requirements:

  • i do have a bachelor's degree but its not in engineering, biological science, physical science, computer science, or mathematics. i guess you don't want literature people up there in the space.
  • long hours in front of every imaginable screen have left my eyes less than perfect. but yeah, LASIK can be thought of.
  • i'm 5 feet, 6 inches tall, don't know whether that falls into your 62-72 inch limits. and let's not talk about my BP here!
  • and last, but perhaps the least important, i'm not a US citizen. but if you select me that won't be a problem, right?

so when can i expect a call from you guys?

sincerely,

adee s
