An advertising writer’s status update

Answering facebook’s perennial query of “What’s on your mind?”

I’ve on my mind ‘The Secret of The Nagas,’ book 2 of the Shiva Trilogy which a colleague is not giving to me as I finished his copy of book 1 ‘The Immortals of Meluha’ in 4 hours (i.e. too quickly for his comfort) while I was in the middle of the ‘River of Smoke’ and now that I’ve cabbaged my boss’ ‘Kafka on the Shore,’ I can’t wait to begin it but can’t because I’ve to start work on a campaign which is to be delivered tomorrow.

Written at 8pm on a December evening in office. And not updated as a status.

Goa calling

once again, Goa is calling, for Indian advertising industry's biggest annual show, Goafest.

i'm going there with five of my team members from the McCann Healthcare Delhi office. joining us will be our Mumbai team and many from other divisions of the Delhi office. and of course the whole of industry will be there.

meeting the Mumbai guys will be cool, so will be the beaches and the beers! there are some wild elements in our troupe who've been planning some interesting things. i on the other hand am looking forward to rubbing shoulders with the best in the business and just going along with the flow.

whatever the spirit, we all are definitely looking forward to having some fun. and a bit of learning too :D

will keep you updated with things as they happen. we are not going to be there for a long time, but as my dada Shantanu said, "it is not the number of days, it is the number of hours that i'm looking forward to!"

making of an AV

lucky life?

sipping ginger tea; planning to listen to a movie soundtrack that i've never heard before; looking at, being inspired by beautiful images from a talented photographer; making a living of the two things i love most - reading and writing; and surrounded by the fragrance of a pampered life, i'm feeling especially lucky as of now... let me hold on to this feeling by putting it here...who knows what my mood will be like in the next few minutes :)

dear life, thanks for everything that you gave or took away, for everything, that you'll send my way

ma had great dreams for me.

to fulfill them i did many things like running printing machinery, operating design computers, teaching children and adults, caring for adults that behaved like children (i.e. customer care and client servicing) and works. writing copy for around three years now and she still has no idea what do i actually do.

all i want is to get my name published someday, somewhere. as an ad maker or a script writer or a lyricist or the world's most talented lunatic.

hope you'll be somewhere around to cheer me :)

changing the way India travels

i kinda like this ad. succinctly it says whatever was left to say. its the end of all 'speculation, debate and talk.' now, the car has taken centerstage. its the proper launch ad, letting the product do the talking. i wish Tatas all the best. and pray for the Indian traffic conditions. now, the way India travels will be changed for ever.
